Sustainable Garden & Landscape Practices

PhotoIn this economy and at this time nothing is more important than doing what is right. Doing the right thing is making sure that we spend our money wisely for the things we want or need; and that those things are justifiable in terms of fairness for the environment.

Since 2001 Garden Arts has been designing and installing gardens and landscapes that are compatible with sustainable ethics and good environmental practices. Our famous Vermont All Season Color Gardens© are just one example. Our range of Garden Ponds and Waterfalls are another; as is our use of locally provided decorative stone, topsoil, mulch and compost.

In the case of our All Season Gardens, after the first summer in the ground there is no need to provide water other than what Mother Nature provides. These efficient and gorgeous gardens are extremely low in maintenance requirements. Needing only an annual light pruning, they are non-demanding of time. And they provide shelter for wildlife and protection from winter winds.

Our garden ponds are designed around an ecosystem that eschews the need for chemicals of any kind to keep them clear and clean. Even a small pond located in the right spot in the back yard works to keep an area cool on the hottest day of the year.

We are fortunate in that we have a network of suppliers who are located close to our yard in Danby Four Corners. By working hard to cultivate our local supplier relationships we avoid the waste of trucking materials long distances over the road – and we get to keep payments for materials circulating in our own local economy.

When you choose a garden or landscape company for your home or business needs, think about how that company thinks about sustainable business practices. It is important.
